Cotswold Interiors, Designed For the Way You Live
Renovations and furnishing projects, designed and managed from first ideas to final installation.Cotswolds Interior Designers
You probably already know how you’d like your home to feel. The harder part is knowing where to start, especially when the house itself might not be laid out as you’d like.
Perhaps a previous extension took away light from the kitchen. A room that’s never used and nobody can quite explain why. A layout that forces you through one space to get to another.
We look at that first and sense-check the layout works. Once the house makes sense, your furnishings, lighting, joinery, materials and finishes are developed and priced as one cohesive scheme – rather than a series of piecemeal decisions made under pressure as the build progresses.
Most studios don’t work this way. The ones that do don’t end up with clients wondering why they agreed to a kitchen layout that never felt quite right.

Watch: A hello from Julia
An informal introduction to The House Ministry, our approach to distinctive British interiors, and how we help our clients feel at home in their Cotswold homes.
Julia and her team are creative, responsive and uber-professional – managing everything seamlessly. Excellent combination of design know-how, creativity and superb project management and commercial skills. We highly recommend them.
Based in Cheltenham, working across the Cotswolds
We design and deliver whole-home projects across the region – from period cottages and barn conversions to listed townhouses and family homes.
We work across Cheltenham, Cirencester, Tetbury, Burford, Broadway, Chipping Campden and the golden triangle villages around Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton and Kingham.
Whether you’re here or elsewhere
Many of our clients are based in London or abroad and need someone they trust to take the lead locally.
Others live in the Cotswolds but don’t have the time or headspace to manage a major project alongside everything else.
Either way, the result is the same; a finished home, ready to enjoy, without having to manage it yourself.
What our clients tend to have in common is a preference for the thinking to happen first, and for one studio to lead the process, with care and competence, from start to finish.
Design Director Julia and Interior Designer Jess
We know the Cotswolds
We are based in Cheltenham and have been working across the region for fifteen years. We know what’s involved in renovating listed buildings, which materials sit right alongside Cotswold stone, and which local trades and suppliers deliver (and which ones don’t).
That kind of knowledge doesn’t show up in a mood board, but it’s often the difference between a project that runs smoothly and one that doesn’t.
Thoughtful details, layered textures, and timeless character — a home that feels entirely your own.
A Clear, End-to-End Process — From First Ideas to Final Styling
Designing a home is complex — but it doesn’t need to feel that way.
We guide every Cotswolds interior design project through a clear six-step process, managing everything from layouts and lighting to furniture, finishes, and final styling.
Each stage builds on the last – so nothing is decided out of sequence.
1. Foundation – We get to know you – your lifestyle, your priorities, your house and how you want to live in it.
2. Concept Design – Thoughtful layouts and early visuals to explore your home’s potential.
3. Detailed Design – Every finish, fitting and furnishing carefully selected and costed. Fully visualised so you can see what the finished result will look like.
4. Procurement & Preparation – We place orders, coordinate trades, and prepare for site start.
5. On-Site Works – For internal work, we coordinate the trades directly. For major structural projects, we liaise closely with your builder to keep the design on track.
6. Completion & Handover – A fully finished home, ready to enjoy.
See the Transformation
Here are a few recent transformations — each one designed and delivered by The House Ministry, from first ideas to final styling.

MODERN COUNTRY HOME, NR EVESHAM
A modernised lounge in a Cotswold village home — with a striking transformation of a dated fireplace into a calm, architectural focal point.
Considering an Interior Design Project in the Cotswolds?
If you’re considering a renovation or furnishing a property in the Cotswolds, a short conversation is usually the best place to start.
We’ll ask about the house, what you’re hoping to achieve, and whether we can help.
Every enquiry is reviewed personally by our team, and we’ll be in touch within one working day to arrange a conversation.
Still pondering your Cotswolds Project?
Do you work with listed or heritage properties?
Yes – many of the homes we work on in the Cotswolds are listed or in conservation areas. We’ve been navigating these requirements for fifteen years and know what’s realistic before work begins.
Can you manage everything if we’re not based locally?
Absolutely. Many of our clients live elsewhere – in London or overseas – and trust us to oversee every stage, from spatial planning and design through to trades, procurement and final styling. We’re your eyes and ears on the ground.
What’s different about designing homes in the Cotswolds?
Cotswold homes often come with thick stone walls, low ceilings, quirky layouts and planning constraints — and that’s part of their charm. We work with the character of the building, not against it, and we know which local trades and suppliers deliver consistently.
How do you manage the design process and keep clients informed?
Each project follows our six-step process. At each stage, we present curated options with a clear recommendations — so your time is spent choosing, not researching.
How involved do I need to be in the design process?
You’ll be involved at key decision points, scheduled around your diary. Between those moments, we handle everything behind the scenes.
