Edwardian Family Home – A Cotswold Home Reimagined for Family Living

Near Gloucester

This is the home of a returning client — a time-pressured business owner we have come to know well. She trusts us to get it right for her –  to interpret her style and preferences, to offer honest advice when needed and, most importantly, to manage every stage of the project from start to finish with a consistently high standard of care and quality.

Sitting Room

Timeline : 8 months

The brief was to take inspiration from Soho House which our client loves. We really took the time to get to know her aesthetic preferences and understand how the room needed to function for her lifestyle. She wanted this room to become a retreat — a space away from the bustle of the home, where the family could watch TV, play games, and enjoy quality time together.

Project Highlights

10% of the budget was allocated specifically for styling — ensuring the shelves and surfaces were thoughtfully accessorised, with attention to scent as well as sight. We wanted to make sure all senses were engaged, a room scenter was a must for this client.

Knowing the family enjoys unwinding together in the evenings, the chair, footstool, and chaise-longue have quickly become much-loved places to relax. Take a look at the before and after — they haven’t always looked this good…

Bespoke joinery built around a central fireplace with layered shelving, curated styling, and modern artwork in a Georgian family living room.

The existing alcove storage was kept and given a full refresh as part of the new design. Rather than starting again, we reworked the shelving to help frame the fireplace and turn the wall into a feature within the room.

We gave the room a full decorative refresh — introducing new furnishings, updating the lighting, and replacing the carpet with wooden flooring. With plenty of natural light later in the day, and a need for a cosier atmosphere at night, getting the lighting right was essential — practical for use at any time of day, but particularly in the evenings.

I know what I like but I don’t have the time or creative flair to bring things together for a finished product. I am VERY happy with the result. Everything went as expected – really hassle free, meetings were exciting and I loved reviewing the products and fabrics together!

Daughter’s Bedroom

Timeline : 8 months

The brief was to create a bedroom that would work perfectly for a tweenager close to her parents’ room, but also be easy to update into a guest bedroom in a few years’ time when she moves to another floor in the house. We had to carefully balance getting the basics right for the long term — practical storage, a good layout, and thoughtful furniture — while adding playful touches that would appeal to her today.

Project Features

The whole room was designed with enough storage to keep things organised, but still feel light, colourful, and easy for a child to enjoy. Soft pinks were used throughout, paired with whites and warm neutrals to keep the space feeling fresh and balanced.

The room features a dressing table that doubles as a desk, open shelving for her favourite items and family photos, and a comfortable double bed to last into the future. The bespoke wavy headboard with soft pink and white fringing, along with a string of fairy lights, adds that magical feeling.

A thoughtfully designed child’s bedroom with pale pink upholstery, bespoke window seat storage and layered accessories.

A motorised ottoman at the end of the bed neatly hides the TV when it’s not in use — solving the common challenge of where to position a TV in a bedroom. We designed the ottoman with a rise-and-fall mechanism, made by our bespoke furniture maker here in the UK.

We designed the built-in wardrobes with a soft curved top so they would feel lighter and less overpowering in the room. Inside, there’s a mirror, space for jewellery and belts, and pull-down rails to make reaching clothes easier. The wardrobes are linked by a window seat, with squashy cushions creating a comfortable spot for reading, relaxing, or simply spending time with her friends.

Visualising the Design

One of the ways we help clients feel confident in the design process is by providing 3D visuals of key spaces. This allowed these clients to clearly see how the layout and finishes would come together — making it easier to make decisions and move forward confidently with the design.

The Result : Before & After Transformations

Both rooms now feel more intentional — designed not just to look good, but to work well for how the family actually lives.

Upstairs, the daughter’s bedroom has been designed with both the present and future in mind. What was once a basic child’s room is now more grown-up, with practical storage, bespoke furniture, and playful details that reflect her interests and make the space feel personal.

Rather than replacing existing furniture in the sitting room, we worked with our upholsterer to reupholster the client’s existing sofa into a much higher quality piece. While the frame was sound, it had been made in a corner cutter with poor-quality materials. As the client liked the shape and the sofa was only 5 years old, it made sense to upcycle as part of a sustainable approach.

A second sofa was remodelled into a chaise-longue, stripped back to its frame and rebuilt — creating the perfect spot to retreat to in the evenings.

Coming soon…

We are currently working on the next phase of this home! Designing an orangery to replace the existing conservatory, alongside a considered refresh of the kitchen.

Each space has been thoughtfully planned to reflect how the client lives today — ensuring the home feels connected, characterful, and distinctly theirs.
