The Project Scoping Session

An structured interior design consultation for homeowners in Cheltenham and the Cotswolds who want to start their project properly.

From £850 + VAT

You may be thinking about colours, furniture and how the kitchen’s going to look.

This isn’t that session.
But it’s the one that makes those decisions considerably more worthwhile.

Most home projects don’t fail at the design stage. They derail much earlier, when nobody has properly defined what the project actually is.

The scope isn’t yet clear. The budget hasn’t been tested against reality. And decisions start being made before the right questions have been asked. By the time an architect or builder is involved, everyone is working from assumptions rather than a considered brief.

It’s not a lack of care. It’s that there’s no obvious point in the process where this thinking is expected to happen.

Architects focus on the structure and planning. Builders focus on delivery. The question of how the house will actually work once you’re living in it often falls between the two.

We see this repeatedly in renovation and furnishing projects across Cheltenham and the Cotswolds.

This session exists to address that gap.

In a focused interior design consultation, we look at your home, your plans, and how you want the space to function, not how it will look.

Within a week, you’ll receive a written strategy report setting out:

A clear brief: What you’re trying to achieve, how far the project should go, and where the boundaries are.

A logical sequence:  The order decisions need to be made in, and which ones will have the greatest impact if handled too late or in the wrong order.

A realistic budget framework:  A broad sense-check of your expectations against what’s typically involved.

Technical direction: Whether architectural or structural input is required, and at what stage.

Common Pitfalls: The common mistakes we see repeatedly, and how to avoid them in your project.

What you’re left with

Clarity on what needs to happen next.

A structure for approaching the project properly.

And the confidence to move forward without second-guessing.

What this is not

This is not a design session.

We won’t be selecting colours, materials, or furniture. That work belongs in the design process itself, once the direction of the project is properly defined.

This session is about setting the direction of the project.

Think of it as the difference between choosing a route and choosing what to wear on the journey. This session is about the route.

After the session

If you choose to move forward, we begin Step 1: Foundation, the first stage of our interior design process.

This is where your brief is translated into a clear design direction, including your preferences for colour, materials, and overall feel.

Because the strategic groundwork has already been done, that process is sharper, faster, and more focused from the outset.

The session fee is credited in full against your design fee if you proceed.

Most clients who complete a Project Scoping Session go on to work with us on the full project, because by that point, the path forward tends to be clear.

Investment

From £850 + VAT, depending on the scope of the session and any travel involved.

This reflects the level of thinking involved, and the value of making the right decisions before work begins

The fee is confirmed in advance once we understand what you’d like to cover.

The next step

If you’re planning a significant renovation or multi-room project in Cheltenham, the Cotswolds or the surrounding area, and want to get the foundations right before committing to design or building work, tell us a little about your home, where you are in the process, and what you’re hoping to achieve.

We’ll come back to you within one working day and, if it sounds like the right fit, suggest a time to talk it through.
